Welcome to Luther Chiropractic. Dr. Luther specializes in a type of chiropractic care focused on correcting upper cervical vertebral subluxations.

A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of the vertebra (bones in your back) which results in compromising the normal function of your nervous system.
This condition is significant because the nervous system controls all functions in your body. A vertebral subluxation causes muscle imbalances and joint dysfunction. This can lead to many of the problems for which people seek out a chiropractor, such as low back pain, mid back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, sciatica, and more. Upper cervical adjustments are great at helping people with these problems because the spinal adjustments help correct the vertebral misalignments.

In addition to the vertebral misalignment there is another component to the vertebral subluxation, and that is the neurological insult that results from the vertebral misalignments. This is significant and can go uncorrected because you may not have pain or a symptom telling you that something is wrong. What can go wrong if the nervous system is not working correctly? As mentioned previously, the nervous system controls all functions in your body, so any part, function, or process that does not have 100% nerve supply due to a vertebral subluxation will be affected -- requardless if you have symptoms or not. Here is an example: if you have high blood pressure, can you feel it? Here is a study linking the vertebral subluxation of the top bone in your neck (the atlas bone) to elevated blood pressure. What can you do determine if you have a vertebral subluxation? Get checked by a chiropractor that utilizes objective tests to determine the presense of vertebral subluxations. One of the best objective tests to determine the presense of vertebral subluxations is computerized infrared thermography.

Dr. Luther is trained in several methods of adjusting the upper cervical vertebra and depending upon your individual circumstances, the best method for you will be utilized. One of Dr. Luther's primary adjustive techniques is called Atlas Orthogonal. In this specific upper cervical adjusting technique there is no popping, twisting or cracking of your neck. The adjustment utilizes a very light force with no depth to correct vertebral subluxations. All of these aspects of the adjustive technique makes it very safe, comfortable, and highly effective.
